King Tides are created by seasonal gravitational forces that cause tides to be higher than normal. As such, they provide a sneak peek into what future sea level rise will look like. We sought help from locals to document King Tides, which help advance our understanding of how coastal communities can proactively plan for sea level rise. Documenting King Tides reinforces Surfrider's important work of influencing policy at the national and local levels to improve how our coastlines are managed in light of climate change.
