July Coastal Commission meeting

July 12 to July 14, the California Coastal Commission will be meeting at Cal State Monterey Bay's World Theater. We expect the Cemex Sand Mine to be on the agenda, and need everyone who loves their beach and shoreline to show up and let their voice be heard.

We need you in July

We will let you know in late June what day and time to show up and let your voice be heard. Even if you don't feel like speaking, we will have t-shirts and signs for you to show the commissioners your support.

What's been happening

In May, the State Lands Commission declared that the sand mine does not have a legal permit to operate. In June, the City of Marina declared that the mine is a public nuisance, and asked the city attorney to investigate options.

All of this has been great news for those of us who are concerned about our disappearing coastline, but we are not out of the woods yet.
